SOCHI (RUS) - In Krasnaya Polyana, the official trainings of the biathlon teams took place this afternoon in the Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex on the eve of the 3rd CISM World Winter Games opening ceremony. After lunch, the weather conditions started to be quite difficult because of wet snow and rain.
The men’s sprint on the 3.3 km track and the women’s sprint on the 2.5 km track will take place tomorrow at 13:25 (GMT +3) and 15:55 (GMT +3). The biathlon track is equipped with 136 meter ascent, including a long way up to the mountain – 57 meters. The tracks were made in accordance with the Olympic standards and their complexity corresponds to the top-level competitions.
Such athletes as European champion Ensign Eduard Latypov, World champion Ensign Galina Nechkasova, European champion Junior Sergeant Anastasia Zagoruiko and European junior champion Junior Sergeant Uliana Kaisheva will take part in trainings as members of the Russian National Team.
“The weather is wonderful today and everyone is in a good mood, despite yesterday’s snowfall. We meet the teams for the first time today and we’ll see how they will prove themselves,” said Irina Polienko.
There are different ways to get to the Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex. There is a shuttle bus, that runs from the Iceberg Skating Palace and also a shuttle bus from the WSCD “Psekhako” that runs from 6:30 a.m. to 22:00 every hour or depending on load. Also you can take a taxi, a public transport or a “Lastochka” train to the Krasnaya Polyana station. Next, you need to rise to the Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex by the funicular.
