CISM Staff

The commissions established by the Board of Directors, are working in a designated area of CISM activity.

The basic role of commissions is to undertake studies in the principal activities of CISM to assist the Board of Directors. Each commission is responsible to manage, lead, and develop the activity in its mandated area of responsibility. Each commission proposes policy, procedures or actions and presents reports to the General Assembly as decided by the Board of Directors.

Appeal Commission

The role of the Appeal Commission is to examine in an independent, objective and impartial manner any appeals to the decisions of the CISM Discipline Commission or CISM authorities. The Appeal Commission is the final CISM level of appeal and its decisions are binding. It is the right of any aggrieved party to appeal to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The Appeal Commission is composed of a president and three members appointed by the President of CISM from a list of nominees drawn from military delegates. This list is approved annually by the General Assembly. The composition may vary for different appeals.The Appeal Commission is an independent body, not subject to the direction of the Board of Directors or General Assembly. The President and the members appointed to the Commission shall all be independent of the case being considered.

Discipline Commission

The Discipline Commission has not the same role as the other commissions. The Commission does not undertake any studies and assist the Board of Directors. It decides on disciplinary matters and provides an analysis to the General Assembly (through the BoD).

Sports Commission

Mandate and tasks of CISM Sports Commission:

• Develops Sports activities in CISM in close direct coordination with CISM Sports Department and the PCSC-R, who is representing all PCSCs.
• Proposes CISM policies, procedures and actions in the field of sport.
• Advises the CISM Sports Department and Games Department in the management of CISM sports activities and CISM Games
• Provides preliminary advice on all sports-related CISM BoD Decisions and Information files.
  Reports to General Assembly, BoD meetings and PCSC meetings as decided by the Board of Directors.

TUE Committee (TUEC)

Military Athletes who wish to Use a Prohibited Substance or a Prohibited Method in connection with a CISM Event and do not already have a TUE should apply to CISM’s TUE Committee (the "CISM’s TUEC") for a TUE as soon as the need arises and in any event (save in emergency or exceptional circumstances) at least 30 days before the Event. The TUEC shall promptly evaluate the application in accordance with the International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions and render a decision as quickly as possible, which decisions shall be reported via ADAMS. The provisions of the International Standard for TUEs and the specific protocols of CISM shall be complied with during the whole process and applied automatically. TUEs granted by the CISM’s TUEC shall be effective for a specific CISM Event.
