Statement by CISM President Colonel Nilton Gomes Rolim Filho on the presentation of the CISM Fair Play Trophy at the end of the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games 2025.
LUCERNE (SUI) - On behalf of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), it is with great pride and deep respect that I present the CISM Fair Play Trophy to WINOC. This recognition is not only a celebration of operational excellence - it is, above all, a tribute to the tireless dedication of the men and women who often remain unseen but are absolutely indispensable to our collective success.
While athletes may be the face of competition, the true backbone of any sporting event lies in the efforts of those who work behind the scenes. In this regard, all the civilian and military personnel without distinction of rank and position have gone above and beyond.
Their long hours, discipline, humility, and quiet perseverance have been nothing short of exemplary.
From liaison and transportation to facility maintenance, from administrative duties to technical and logistical coordination and work, these individuals carried out their responsibilities with remarkable professionalism and an unshakable commitment to the values of fair play, solidarity, service, as well as genuine and true friendship.
Their dedication created the conditions for excellence, safety, and camaraderie among all participants - proving once again that it is often the unseen efforts that uphold the visible success.
This trophy stands as a symbol of our profound gratitude to each and everyone, especially those who serve without expectation of recognition but whose work is vital to everything we accomplish. Their contribution embodies the very essence of CISM's mission: friendship through sport, built on mutual respect and collective effort.
To all these dedicated individuals - particularly the junior ranks and younger Swiss Militia members - who made this achievement possible: congratulations on this well-earned honor. Your commitment inspires us all and reaffirms the strength of our military sports family.
