LUCERNE (SUI) – The speed climbing competition at the Military World Winter Games 2025 provided an electrifying spectacle as athletes set new indoor records. With fierce competition driving athletes to push their limits, the event set the stage for an exciting and challenging season ahead.

 

In the morning’s qualifying rounds, 24 male and 12 female climbers from 11 nations fought fiercely for a spot in the knockout stages. Ukrainian climber Yaroslav Tkach set the benchmark with a blistering 5.43-second climb, while Polish Olympic champion Aleksandra Miroslaw led the women's qualifiers with an impressive 6.67 seconds.

 

As the elimination rounds progressed, the competition intensified. Top male athletes like Hryhorii Ilchyshyn (UKR) and French climber Guillaume Moro advanced to the finals.

In a jaw-dropping final, Guillaume Moro broke the indoor speed climbing record with a time of 5.19 seconds, earning the gold medal. “My goal for the upcoming season is to break the 5-second barrier,” he said after his victory.

 

On the women’s side, Aleksandra Miroslaw and Italy’s Giulia Randi made it to the final. Miroslaw delivered an exceptional performance, clocking a time of 6.73 seconds to secure the gold medal and set a new record.
