SAINT-PETERSBURG (RUS) - The shooting competitions of the 3rd World Cadet Games continued the day before yesterday at the shooting range of the garrison in the municipality of Sertolovo with, in the program, the individual events of 25m for men and women, the pistol shooting event (fixed target and emerging target) and the slow fire rifle shooting event on 200m.


In the 200m Rifle Match Men's event, Myo Tun Nay from Myanmar won the event with a total of 250 points beating Russian athletes Ivan Bakulin (250 points) and Andrey Zakharov (249 points). In the women's 200m Rifle Match competition, the podium was entirely occupied by the cadets of the national team of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Anastasia Rusakova won the title with 260 points before Anastasia Kudryavtseva (256 points) and Victoria Tikhonova (250 points).

In 25m Pistol Match Men, the Russian shooter Alexander Bitiukov wins the gold medal with 270 points in front of Marek Kalbaska from Belarus (266 points) while Maksim Andreev (RUS) takes the bronze with 262 points. In the women's event, Yuliya Stychynskaya (BLR) won the title with 259 points ahead of the Russians Alyona Domonosova (250 points) and Tamara Zakharova (244 points).
In athletics, six competitions were on the program for this third day of competition.


Despite the pouring rain, the Cadets of the Russian team (Andrey Shikarev, Kirill Kharitonov, Vladislav Novotorov and Daniel Garin), managed to set the world record of the Cadet Games by finishing the 4x100m relay in 41'91'' beating the long-standing record set by the Brazilians in 2014 (43'3''). The Russians are ahead of Venezuela and Belarus.


Also noteworthy is the superb performance of the Armenian Gor Beglaryan who finished ahead of the Russian Kharitonov and the Iranian Ahmadi in the long jump event.

The other four gold medals of the day were won by Russia. In the men's 400m, Daniel Garin won ahead of Artem Rubtsov (RUS) and Jesus Antonio Urbina Vivas (VEN). Maria Klimova takes the gold medal in women's long jump with a jump at 5.31m ahead of her compatriot Yulia Sinitsyna and Johelianni Maria Coronado Ramos (VEN). The men's 800m event was a tough race and finally it was the Russian Evgeni Teter who emerged with only 5 thousandths of a second ahead of the Armenian cadet Ervand Mkrtchyan, while Aleey Savvin (RUS) took the bronze.

 

The women's 800m race was as intense as the men's. In the first lap, the Venezuelan cadet Yhuslin Beatriz Cisnero Ayala took the lead and broke away from her rivals. However, a good race strategy allowed the Russian cadet Anna Krut to cross the finish line first ahead of her compatriot Anastasia Bulatova while Cisnero Ayala had to settle for the bronze medal.

In orienteering, the Russians made a strong impression in the park of Sosnovka which hosts the competitions. First, Pavel Fomichev (RUS) won the men's long-distance race with more than a minute's advantage over two teammates Leonid Chesnikov and Victor Novikov, who won silver and bronze medals, respectively. In the women's race, the Russian Cadet Anastasia Kovalenko won the women's long-distance competition ahead of the Venezuelan Oriangie Arguello and the Russian Sofia Kopylova.


Thanks to the individual results of its athletes, Russia also managed to win the women's and men's team orienteering competitions.
