Successful World Military Half Marathon Championship held in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO (BIH) - Yesterday, the city of Sarajevo proudly hosted the World Military Half Marathon Championship, marking a memorable and successful event despite a few weather challenges.

Organized meticulously by the Local Organizing Committee, the championship brought together elite military athletes from around the globe, showcasing their endurance and competitive spirit.

The event witnessed competitive races on both the men's and women's sides, although the conditions were less than ideal due to light rain, which made the course slippery and prevented any new CISM World Records from being set.

In the women's individual race, Bahrain dominated the podium, with Tigest Gashaw clinching the gold, followed closely by her teammates Violah Jepchumba and Ruth Jebet, who secured the silver and bronze respectively.

Bahrain continued its winning streak in the women's team category, taking the top spot, while Morocco and Kenya finished second and third.

The men's individual race was highly competitive, with France's Mehdi Frere emerging victorious, clocking in at 1:02:43. Close behind him were Bahrain's Abraham Cheroben and Albert Rop, taking silver and bronze respectively.

In the men's team race, Morocco claimed the gold, with France and Bahrain rounding out the podium.

Additionally, the Para Open Competition (5 Km) saw outstanding performances, with Vallejo Darwin of Ecuador winning the men's race and Audrina Jouquot of France winning the women's race.

The championship not only highlighted the exceptional talent and determination of military athletes but also underscored the importance of international sportsmanship and camaraderie. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the LOC, the event was executed smoothly, making it a day to remember for all participants and spectators.
