The 3rd CISM World Winter Games are approaching!

 

 

MOSCOW (RUS) – On 6 December, in the framework of the organization of the 3rd World Winter Games that will take place in Sochi (RUS) from 22 to 28 February, CISM President Colonel Abdulhakeem Alshino (BRN) had a very fruitful meeting in the Ministry of Defense in Moscow with Sergey Shoygu, Minister of Defense of Russia.

 

 

Initially, the CISM President expressed his endless gratitude to MOD for the great cooperation between CISM and the Russian Federation delegation in CISM for the last 3 years, under the leadership of Colonel Oleg Botsman.

He emphasized the excellent performances realized by the Russian athletes during the 6th CISM Military World Games in Republic of Korea as Russia finished on the first place of the general medal table.

 

 

The CISM President also declared that the 3rd CISM Winter World Games in Sochi next February will certainly be successful although the participation of the countries is still not sufficient. However, he hopes that the number of participating nations will increase in the next months thanks to the diplomatic initiatives of  the Russian Federation.

 

 

The Russian Minister of Defense declared that those CISM World Winter Games will be high-level Games and he thanked the CISM President for his confidence and his support. They also discussed the preparations related to the competition venues, accommodations…

 

 

“Russia is a country which love sports, know sports and know how to carry out major competitions such as the CISM World Winter Games”, declared Shoygu.

CISM delegates and Sochi OC representatives are meeting this week in Sochi to evaluate the progress of preparations of the event. The Opening Ceremony will take place in Sochi on the Defender of the Fatherland Day (23 February).

 

 

Finally, the CISM President requested the Russian MOD the participation of the Russian Judo team at the 1st CISM East Judo Tournament that will take place in Mongolia next September. When he mentioned the current world terrorism threats, he also underlined that CISM is out of politics and always in favor of peace in the world.
