Serbia wins the 14th CISM Futsal Cup for Peace 2024 in Novo Mesto, Slovenia
NOVO MESTO (SLO) – Serbia has won the 14th CISM Futsal Cup for Peace 2024, held from October 21 to October 25 in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. This year’s tournament brought together 75 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia for three days of high-stakes competition, fostering unity and sportsmanship as part of CISM’s Peace Through Sport initiatives.
The CISM Futsal Cup for Peace, organized specifically to reunite countries from the former Yugoslavia in a framework of peace, promotes friendship and mutual respect through sport. The event commenced on October 22 with a ceremonial opening led by Lieutenant Colonel Jure Velepec, Chief of the Slovenian CISM delegation and member of the CISM Board of Directors. The CISM flag was raised and the anthem played, symbolizing the spirit of unity that guided the tournament.
Teams faced off in five rounds, delivering impressive performances and showcasing exceptional skill. The championship match, a thrilling final between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, held spectators on edge. Bosnia and Herzegovina entered the match with a narrow lead in points, but in a dynamic and determined showing, Serbia claimed victory, winning the title of CISM Futsal Cup for Peace champions.

The closing ceremony at Franc Uršič Military Barracks featured Deputy Force Commander Colonel Igor Šepec, joined by Tournament Organizing Committee Chairman Lieutenant Colonel Bojan Kovič, in awarding medals to the top three teams. Individual honors went to Montenegro’s Markovič Luka, who was named both Best Player and Best Scorer, while Serbia’s Dušan Stojković received the Best Goalkeeper award. The Fair Play Cup was presented to North Macedonia, honoring their exemplary sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
The event concluded with the ceremonial passing of the CISM flag to the Montenegrin delegation, who will host the 15th CISM Futsal Cup for Peace in Podgorica in 2025, continuing this meaningful tradition.
