SZOLNOK (HUN) - The 46th World Military Parachuting Championship continued to deliver thrilling moments as the ninth day saw the final round of team accuracy competitions.
In the female team category, China maintained its lead, finishing with an impressive total of 45cm. Italy secured second place with 120cm, followed by South Korea with 183cm. The precision required is notable, given the 2cm diameter of the dead center, making every centimeter count. China's team achieved an average score of just 1.1cm over 40 jumps.
The male accuracy competition was fiercely contested, with the Czech Republic emerging victorious with a total of 23cm, after a perfect semi-final round. Their performance set two new FAI World Records: G-1 (22cm) and G-2 (1x0.0+0.2).
Several other teams, including Algeria, Brazil, and the UAE, delivered record-worthy performances, but their military status without civilian FAI Sporting Licenses meant these records were not officially recognized.
China, Hungary, and Italy also delivered notable performances in the final round, with Hungary celebrating a bronze medal after a strong showing.
In the male team overall category, a tie between Korea and Germany for second place led to a tie-break formation jump. Germany's 29 points secured the silver medal, while Korea's 24 points earned them bronze. The Czech Republic claimed the gold and the prestigious team overall title.
The male individual accuracy category saw an intense tie-break between France's Cpl Guinde and Hungary's OR9 Varga. After the third tie-break jump, Varga's zero score awarded him silver, while Guinde's 1cm score earned him bronze.
The gold medal was secured by OR-8 Stefan Wiesner from Germany with a distance of only 3 cm, which is the best result at the 46th WMPC. Consequently, the running trophy 'Pottier' goes to Germany for one year. Stefan has already won it two more times in the past.
In the individual overall category, Cpl Guinde narrowly beat Adj Jeannerot of France by 0.3 seconds in the style tie-break jump, securing the gold medal. Cpl Guinde will also be proposed as the title of Parachuting Male Athlete of the Year.
The female individual overall competition was equally tight, with Germany's OR-6 Tatjana Gustke winning gold by just 0.11 seconds over China's Cpt Xiao Yao. Gustke will be nominated as the female athlete of the year by the CSC.
The day's events concluded with award ceremonies for Accuracy, Style, and Formation on the main drop zone. The final medals will be presented during the closing ceremony on Friday, July 12th, at the Air Force Museum of Szolnok.
This year’s championships have showcased remarkable talent and precision, setting new standards in military parachuting sports and live media presentation of results.
