TASHKENT (UZB) - The 42nd World Military Judo Championship wrapped up on October 18 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, after an exhilarating week of intense competition. Athletes from various nations demonstrated remarkable judo prowess, and the event left participants with unforgettable memories.
In the women's team event on October 18, Uzbekistan triumphed with a dominant performance to secure 1st place. The Uzbek team showcased their strength by defeating Spain in the quarterfinals before facing Russia in a challenging semifinal, where they emerged victorious. In the final, Uzbekistan put on a commanding display, earning the gold medal on home soil. France secured 2nd place after overcoming tough competitors. The French team first defeated Mongolia in the quarterfinals and then claimed victory over Italy in the semifinals, showcasing their consistency and technical skill. Italy and Mongolia shared 3rd place, having both delivered strong performances throughout the tournament.
In the men's team event, Mongolia claimed 1st place after a series of impressive victories. Mongolia demonstrated great tactical awareness and fighting spirit, defeating Algeria in the quarterfinals before overcoming a resilient Korean team in the semifinals. In a hard-fought final, Mongolia captured the gold medal with an exceptional team performance. Uzbekistan secured 2nd place after a solid run in the competition. The home team defeated Jordan in the quarterfinals and Italy in the semifinals, giving their fans much to cheer for, but narrowly missed out on gold in the final. Iran and Kazakhstan both finished in 3rd place, having displayed their own strengths throughout the tournament.
In the overall medal standings, Uzbekistan emerged as the top nation, amassing an impressive 13 medals in total, a testament to their athletes' skill and determination. Mongolia followed closely with 8 medals, solidifying their place as one of the strongest teams in the competition. France also secured 8 medals, earning them 3rd place in the standings and demonstrating their consistent strength in judo across both the men's and women's events.
