Beach volleyball: WANG/XIA rally to claim women's gold

WUHAN (CHN) -  China's WANG Fan/XIA Xinyi regrouped to beat Taiana LIMA/Talita ANTUNES of Brazil 2-1 in the women's gold-medal match in beach volleyball on Saturday.

The Chinese duo edged the first game 22-20 at Hanyang District Beach Volleyball Center. The Brazilians roared back to win the second 21-12 before FAN/XIA found an extra gear to clinche the title with a 15-9 triumph. Russia's Nadezda MAKROGUZOVA/Daria RUDYKH took bronze.

The men's title went to Bruno SCHMIDT/Evandro JUNIOR (BRA) with a 2-0 victory over Germany's twin brothers David and Bennet PONIEWAZ.

Nouh AL JALBUBI/Mazin AL HASHIMI of Oman won the bronze-medal match.
