LUCERNE (SUI) – Yesterday, March 22, in honor of the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games, the memorial stone and four symbolic trees were officially unveiled by the CISM President, Colonel Nilton Gomes Rolim Filho, and the President of the Organizing Committee, Major-General Germaine Seewer. These trees – three English oaks and one silver poplar – stand as symbols of sustainability, growth, and the close connection between humanity and nature. They reflect the CO2-neutral vision of the Winter Games and carry the values of responsibility and future sustainability.

The trees represent the four participating continents – Europe, Africa, Asia, and America – as well as the four elements of Earth, Water, Fire, and Air, which are deeply embedded in the United Nations' communication for sustainable development. They also embody the four core values of the Swiss Army: Pride, Discipline, Camaraderie, and Competence.

The memorial stone, sourced from the Gotthard Massif, symbolizes the strength and timeless spirit of the Military World Winter Games. This planting is a strong statement for sustainability and peace – values that embody the spirit of the Games.

Through this gesture, we emphasize the importance of a sustainable future and the strong bond between humanity, nature, and global cooperation.
