Colonel Sven Serré, CISM Treasurer General, elected President of Badminton Europe (BEC)

BAKU (AZE) - It is with great pleasure that the CISM family learned yesterday that Colonel Sven Serré, CISM Treasurer General, was nominated as the new President of Badminton Europe on the second day of the BEC 2023 Congress held in Baku, Azerbaijan.


Colonel Serré received 32 of the 43 votes and will be the new BEC President for the period 2023 - 2027. He succeeds João Matos, who has served as interim president since August 2022.


Brian Agerbak, Secretary General of Badminton Europe, congratulated Sven Serré on his victory: "Sven has a lot of experience in various areas of badminton. He is very visionary and has presented interesting plans for the future and ideas on how we can improve," said Agerbak, before adding: "I think he will bring structure to many things we do. He will bring new ideas, which is always beneficial."

Acting President Dirk Schwede was also delighted at the announcement of the election: "It is a great pride for our organization to know that Colonel Serré is now at the head of a prestigious institution! On behalf of the whole CISM Family, I wish him every success in his new mandate!”
