CISM President meets Qatari Authorities to discuss expanded military sports collaboration

DOHA (QAT) - During the 24th CISM World Military Equestrian Championship held in Doha, CISM President Colonel Nilton Rolim met with top Qatari authorities to discuss expanding military sports activities in the region. The discussions explored Qatar's potential to host CISM major events, alongside broader collaborations to strengthen military sports within the Arabic-speaking world. Representing Qatar were H.E. Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs; H.E. Sheikh Jooan Bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee; and Lt. General Pilot Jassim Bin Mohammed Al Mannai, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces.

 

The discussions highlighted Qatar’s strategic importance within CISM, particularly as a leader in promoting military sports in the Arab world. Qatar’s renowned infrastructure and its established reputation as a host of major international events, including the FIFA World Cup 2022, positioned it as an ideal candidate to host one of the CISM Major events.

CISM President Colonel Nilton Rolim expressed his enthusiasm for the growing collaboration with Qatar, noting the country's commitment to the principles of friendship, peace, and solidarity through sports. He emphasized that Qatar's participation and leadership within CISM set a high standard for other member nations.

 

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of increasing participation in military sports across Arabic countries, with Qatar positioned as a central hub for such efforts. Both parties agreed that fostering regional cooperation and organizing additional CISM events in Qatar would be instrumental in enhancing the reach and influence of military sports globally.
