SANTO DOMINGO (DOM) - The CISM President, Colonel Nilton Gomes Rolim Filho, CISM Secretary General Navy Captain Roberto Recchia, CISM Vice President for the Americas and Inspector of the Dominican Republic Armed Forces, Major General Delio Colón Rosário, and the President of the Dominican Republic Armed Forces Sports Confederation, Brigadier General José Manuel Durán Infante, visited the Dominican Republic Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, at the Ministry of Defense in Santo Domingo.
This high-level visit, held during the third CISM Board of Directors and PCSC meetings in Punta Cana, underscored the commitment of CISM and the Dominican Republic to fostering international cooperation through military sports. As part of the ceremony, Lieutenant General Fernández Onofre was presented with the prestigious Grand Officer grade of the CISM Order of Merit, recognizing his exceptional contributions to promoting military sports and strengthening ties with CISM.
During the meeting, Lieutenant General Fernández Onofre expressed his gratitude for the award and reaffirmed the importance of military sports as a powerful tool for peacebuilding and unity among nations. This honor reflects CISM's commitment to its mission of friendship and collaboration through sport, bringing together the armed forces of its member nations in a shared pursuit of peace.
