Colonel Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, Cameroon, is the new CISM (International Military Sports Council) President, elected this Saturday, the last day of the 65th Assembly and Congress of the entity at Othon Hotel in Rio de Janeiro. The Africa representative won Colonel Bengt Nylander, Sweden, and undertook his post immediately, post that was occupied by General Gianni Gola in the last 12 years.
"Thank you all who elected me. I will continue serving the CISM as I always did. It is open a new page in the history of the organization and hope to honor the trust you have placed in me” said Colonel Kalkaba, after his victory was announced.
The new CISM President took advantage to invite General Gola to the entity’s Honorary President post. "Thank you for this warm demonstration of confidence. I will always be at the CISM service ", said General Gola.
Defeated candidate, Colonel Nylander congratulated his competitor. "You decided and I respect your decision. Thank you for the trust in recent years, and please take good care of the CISM family”, he asked.
The new CISM vice president was also elected on Saturday: Lt. Col. Mesut Cerita, Turkey. At 43, he becomes the youngest vice president in the entity’s history.
Some decisions report, as the entity's business plan for 2011, also was voted by CISM members. Finally, the Korean delegation made a presentation of the 2011 Assembly which will take place in their country.
CIAL (Integrated Center for Local Actions) was used for the first time in the 65th CISM Assembly and Congress. In the 5th Military World Games, next year in Rio de Janeiro, centers will be integrated in all premises of the event.
Developed by CPO (Operational Planning Committee) Rio 2011, the CIAL aims to coordinate and control all activities in sports or no sports facilities in the areas of logistics, security and intelligence, command and control, personnel management, among others.
In addition to a large room that serves as basis, the Assembly also has a CIAL Mobile, which is parked at the entrance of the Othon Hotel.
At base, the coordinators and managers rely on a big screen divided into four parts. In the first, the "SIGO" system - a program that controls the activities planned from the start of the event, minute by minute.
In the other two parts, a map tracking incidents and incident management system. These two frames are used to point an unexpected event, which was not in "SIGO" (such as the untimely arrival of a delegation, for example), and map the solution of the problem.
In the fourth and last frame of the screen, are the images from cameras installed on the CIAL mobile, which monitors a restricted area. The CIAL mobile is used in short duration activities. At the 2011 World Military Games it can be used in marathon and triathlon tests, among others.
In the first major test, the system has been praised by members of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), on their visit to the Assembly, and by other authorities and visitors who showed interest in knowing the system.
After the closing of the 65th CISM (International Military Sports Council) Assembly and Congress, event participants, including heads of delegations and organization members, took a stroll through the sights of Rio de Janeiro. Participants were divided between a visit to Sugar Loaf Mountain and a walk through a mall in Botafogo. The majority chose the first option.
At night, the leaders attended a gala dinner at the Othon Hotel, as the farewell event. General Jamil Megid Junior, CPO Rio 2011 General Coordinator, and Vice Admiral Gamboa, head of the Brazilian delegation for the 5th World Military Games, exchanged gifts with other chiefs of delegations. A video with images of all Assembly’s activities was also displayed at the event.
After the closing of the 65th CISM Assembly and Congress, this Saturday at Othon Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, heads of delegations, the organization’s delegates and members were presented with a show of the Samba City’s Group. Members of various percussion bands of the Rio Samba Schools, as well as samba dancers, the whirling ladies (“baianas”) and a couple of female flag bearer and her escort ("porta-bandeira" and "mestre-sala") made a special presentation to the congress participants.
An excellent training for the 5th Military World Games, next year in Rio de Janeiro, that is how the Operational Planning Committee (CPO) defined the 65th CISM (International Council for Military Sports) Assembly and Congress, which ended on Saturday at Othon Hotel in Copacabana. According to the CPO General Coordinator, General Jamil Megid Junior, observations made during the event will enhance the preparation for the Peace Games.
"For CPO, the 65th CISM Assembly and Congress was a training of reception areas, logistics and command and control, which showed that we are making progress on tasks and knowledge of how to accomplish a major sporting event”, said General Megid .
The CPO Coordinator also listed the various functions of the Assembly. "It was an excellent delegations’ meeting to discuss how to further develop sports military, to expand the disclosure of all CISM events held in continents and to obtain information from all countries on how the 5th Military World Games will be realized”, completed General Megid.
Head of the Brazilian delegation for the Military Games, Vice Admiral Gamboa made a positive assessment of the Assembly’s organization. "The purpose was not to be a test event, but the Assembly ended up serving for it. The result was very positive. It was excellent training”, he said.
According to Vice-Admiral Gamboa, the 65th edition of the event had a distinct character. "It was the farewell of General Gola and the election of Colonel Kalkaba of Cameroon, to the post of CISM President. There was a change in direction toward the entity, leaving Europe to Africa. That is, a historic moment for CISM", he concluded.
The Planning Committee Operations (CPO) General Coordinator of the 5th Military World Games Rio-2011, General Jamil Megid Junior, paid a tribute to CISM President (International Council for Military Sports), General Gianni Gola, on the last day of the 65th Assembly Council of the entity. Shortly before the announcement of the election results that point the new CISM president, General Megid and CPO members a gave special gift to General Gola, in gratitude for his 12 years of work ahead of the sport's top military authority.
After a few words of appreciation, the CPO General Coordinator took the opportunity to invite General Gola to the Games in 2011. "We would love to see you here next year in the Military World Games", said General Megid .
Happy with the tribute, CISM President praised the Assembly’s organization. "General Megid told me that the Assembly would be a test for the organization. But it was much more than a test. It was perfect. And I'm sure the Military Games will be excellent”, he said.
The CISM presidency’s election
The Saturday will be a historic day for CISM (International Military Sports Council). After 12 years, General Gianni Gola will leave the presidency of the organization. The election that will choose the new president will take place at 10am on the last day of the 65th CISM Assembly and Congress, at the Othon Hotel in Rio de Janeiro.
Two candidates vying for the title: Colonel Bengt Nylander, Sweden, CISM Vice President for Europe, and Colonel Hamad Kalkaba Malboum , Cameroon, CISM Vice President for Africa.
All participating countries of the Assembly and Congress who are up to date with the annuity are entitled to one vote. The election is secret and the votes will be counted by a committee formed by members of the entity. The vice president and a member of the Director Committee will also be elected at the time.

"I'll be very happy if elected. I'm in CISM for 12 years and would like to give more visibility to the organization. I want to bring more African countries to CISM management”, said Colonel Kalkaba.
"I'm hopeful. My wish is to bring the continents closer and this is being done already, with the choice of a South American country to host the World Military Games. Then do the same with Asia and Africa”, said General Nylander.
The election outcome will be announced at the end of the Assembly, around noon.

CISM (International Military Sports Council) President, General Gianni Gola gave, this Friday, his farewell speech of the position he occupied in the last 12 years. On Saturday, the last day of the 65th Assembly and Congress of this entity, there will be an election to choose a new president.
Before the speech, General Gola distributed a book on his career ahead of CISM, "CISM - My Family: Summary of the greatest events of the last 12 years for the international military sports community from the perspective of its president”.
Moved, he spoke for an hour and thanked all CISM members, which together have worked on the development of military sports. He also thanked his family, who attended the farewell, and God. In the end, he got a standing ovation by the leaders.
The four vice presidents continent (Africa, America, Asia and Europe) also spoke in appreciation to the CISM President General Gola and presented him with souvenirs typical of their countries.
Afterward Lt. Ribamar Bandeira, five times world champion military pentathlon and considered one of the top coaches of the sport in the world gave a speech on behalf of all athletes. Next came CISM Secretary General and, finally, General Gola ended the tribute with more than a thank you to everyone involved with the military sports.
In the morning, Congress debated issues such as the CISM strategy and its business plan and the entity’s anti-doping policy.
General Coordinator of the CPO Rio- 2011, General Jamil Megid Junior made a presentation of the 5th Military World Games which will be held next year in Rio de Janeiro, during the second day of the 65th CISM (International Military Sports Council) Assembly and Congress at the Othon.
General Megid talked about scheduling, logistics, structure and organization of the Peace Games. The CPO General Coordinator reminded that all information is contained in the "invitation", the official invitation that was delivered to the heads of delegations during the Assembly's Opening Ceremony.
General Megid was keen to explain the Command and Control group's planning of Military Games and also informed the deadlines for athletes and teams registration. The CPO General Coordinator also showed the calendar for 2010 and 2011, especially the World Military Shooting Championship in November, an event that will serve as a test for the Peace Games.
General Megid also answered several questions from the heads of delegations. The presentation was praised by the CISM president, General Gianni Gola, and all the delegates who asked questions.
More than 80 delegates attending the 65th CISM (International Military Sports Council) Assembly and Congress had a special program late on Thursday. After the sunset, the leaders attended a Brazilian Marine Corps’ parade, at Fortaleza São José da Ilha das Cobras, in Guanabara Bay, scene of several fights in defense of Brazil.
The Marine Corps martial band evoked the arrival of the Royal Brigade of the Portugal Navy and honored CISM performing evolutions that formed the organization name and also performed the evolution of the anchor and helm and played the Navy Hymn "White Swan" (Cisne Branco). CIA Jaime Arôxa dancers performed on the song "Brasileirinho”.
CISM President, General Gianni Gola received from the hands of the Navy Commander, Júlio Soares de Moura Neto, a plaque honoring his work ahead of CISM.
The party ended with a cocktail at the sounds of classic Brazilian music played by the musicians of the Marine Band.

CISM has two new members
Monaco and Indonesia are now officially part of CISM (National Military Sports Council) since this Thursday morning, at the opening of the 65th Assembly and Congress of the entity at Othon Hotel in Rio de Janeiro. The two countries were included in CISM structure, which now has 133 members.
Before the ceremony, the Head of the Brazilian delegation for the World Military Games, next year in Rio, Vice Admiral Bernard Gamboa made a welcome speech and thanked the participants for their attendance. "It's a great pleasure to welcome you to the 65th CISM Assembly and Congress, where we will discuss priority issues in the military sports. I would like to use this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation. One of the main South America cultural and economic centers, Rio de Janeiro receives you with open arms”, said Head of the Brazilian delegation.
After the words of Vice Admiral Gamboa, Brazilian officials entered the conference hall with the Monaco and Indonesia flags. Both Heads of delegations, Colonel Donny Ermawan (Indonesia) and Mr. Lorenzo Ravano (Monaco), made their speeches.
Another 27 new heads of delegations were also presented at the opening of Congress.
Strategic marketing was the topic of the first part of Thursday debates, the 1st day of work of the 65th CISM Assembly and Congress, at the Othon Hotel in Rio de Janeiro. Heads of delegations and organization members attended a lecture by the Belgian Professor Thierry Zint, from Louvain University: "Building marketing strategy relationship for CISM delegations: Marketing of Peace and soldiers, their social responsibility."
For an hour, professor Zint talked about the importance of understanding the marketing mechanisms to attract new partners to the entity. Then he answered questions from the leaders.
Right after the delegates participated in a workshop. Divided by country, they responded to six questions related to the speech, prepared by Professor Zint. The answers were subject of new debate.
CISM president, General Gianni Gola, ended the first part of the Congress going over that the military sports need to become more popular around the world.
The delegation member’s companions that are attending the 65th CISM (International Military Sports Council) Assembly and Congress experienced a pleasant afternoon in the Botanical Garden, one of the most beautiful sights of Rio de Janeiro. The tour is part of the cultural programming that has been organized especially for them.

Brazilian Olympic Committee (BOC) and Rio-2016 Organizing Committee leaders visited the 65th CISM (International Military Sports Council) Assembly and Congress facilities, this Thursday afternoon. The General Manager of the Institutional Relations of the 2016 Organizing Committee, Fabio Starling, General Manager of Games Operations, Ricardo Trade, and General Manager Accounts Benefits of BOC, Paulo Sergio, were in the CIAL (Integrated Centre of Local Actions) conference rooms and at the CIAL mobile.
During the visit, the leaders were able to observe the evolution of the exchange of experience that began in the 2007 Rio Pan-American and will continue until the World Military Games Rio-2011.
One of the places that most caught the attention of the leaders was seen in the CIAL, which functions as a center of coordination and control of activities that occurs in non-sports or sports facilities. The center is responsible for logistics, security and intelligence, command and control, personnel management, among other areas of the event.
The Thursday afternoon of the 65th CISM (International Military Sports Council) Assembly and Congress was devoted to discussion of the organization internal issues. The CISM President, General Gianni Gola, the secretary general and the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa vice presidents, presented their reports.
Later on the CISM Financial Policy was discussed, with budgets and organization’s financial situation presentations, and also presentation of the financial decisions files.
After a brief interval, the delegates discussed the reform of the entity’s statutes and regulations. Colonel Kalkaba, Cameroon, presented the working groups reports done earlier this morning, and Colonel Rosso spoke about the statutes revision. Soon after, the leaders were able to have their questions answered.
Opening at high level
The 65th CISM (International Military Sports Council) Assembly and Congress were officially opened this Wednesday in a ceremony at the “Pracinhas” Monument (Monument to World War II Soldier) in Rio de Janeiro. During the event, the official invitations to the 5th Military World Games, next year, at “Cidade Maravilhosa” (Marvelous City) were distributed to the 85 heads of delegations.
Also during the Opening Ceremony, the stamp allusive to the Peace Games, designed by “Correios” was released. The stamp features the Military Games logo in stylized lines, symbolizing the dove of peace and the slogan "Peace Games".
Several authorities attended the event, as the CISM President, General Gianni Gola, the Navy Commander Júlio Soares de Moura Neto, the Army Commander, Enzo Martins Peri, and the Air Force Commander, Juniti Saito, besides the Brazilian Delegation Chief for the Military Games, Vice-Admiral José Bernardo Gamboa Pierantoni, and General Jamil Megid Junior, General Coordinator of the Rio-POC 2011.
Victory medals were awarded to civilian and military, and a veterans’ parade of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force ended the ceremony.
General Gola praised the organization of the Military Games in Rio. "The role of CISM is to spread to the world peace through sports; Brazil got the message and therefore was chosen to host the Military Games. Brazil is a country rich in history, with very supportive people and has an important role in the strategy to propagate peace through sport”, said the CISM President.
In the afternoon, the heads of delegations participated in regional meetings, where they discussed internal issues of each continent within the CISM. The Europe meeting was marked by the election of new vice president of the continent to the entity. Lieutenant Colonel Cerita, Turkey, won Colonel Marginean, Romania, by 18 votes to 13. Current Europe vice-president, Colonel Bengt Nylander, Sweden, is running for CISM presidency.
Allusive stamp to the Military World Games is launched
In a ceremony at the “Pracinhas” Monument (monument to the World War II Soldier), on the morning of this Wednesday, the allusive stamp to the 5th Military World Games was officially launched. Conceived by the post office, the stamp features the Military Games logo in stylized lines, symbolizing a dove of peace and the CISM (International Military Sports Council) purpose to promote peace and friendship between the military through sports.
At the center of the stamp there is an indicative legend of the competition and below, the "Peace Games” slogan. The edges in yellow gold set the value presented.
The launch was made by the “Correios” President, Carlos Henrique Custódio, and the commanders of the Navy, Army and Air Force, Júlio Soares de Moura Neto, Enzo Martins Peri, and Juniti Saito, respectively. Two fighters of the Smoke Squadron flew over the site during the ceremony.
Official invitations are consigned to heads of delegations
The official invitations to the 5th Military World Games, next year in Rio de Janeiro, were delivered this Wednesday morning to the 85 heads of delegations. The act took place during the Opening Ceremony of the 65th CISM (International Military Sports Council) Assembly and Congress, at the “Pracinhas” Monument (Monument to World War II Soldier).
Before the ceremony, CISM members posed for an official photo. After invitation distribution, the civilians, militaries and the national institutions that have contributed to disseminating information about the achievements of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB) and other soldiers during World War II were awarded with the Victory Medal.
CISM President, General Gianni Gola made a point to greet the ex-combatants. Again, he talked about the choice of the “Cidade Maravilhosa” (Marvelous City) as the headquarters of the Military Games. The POC (Operational Planning Committee) and CBDM (Military Sports Commission of Brazil) are entities that are coordinating and executing the 65th Assembly and Congress of CISM (International Military Sports Council). The event, 10-15 May, at Othon Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, is the first big test for the World Military Games, which will be held next year in the “Cidade Maravilhosa”.
Head of the Brazilian delegation at the Games, Vice-Admiral José Bernardo Pierantoni Gambôa (photo) praised the event organizers. The Wednesday conference was marked by continental meetings at the 65th CISM (International Military Sports Council) Assembly. Representatives of the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa discussed internal issues of each continent in more than four hours of debate.
At the Americas meeting it was established the involvement of countries’ continent in CISM 2010 events, such as the 31st World Military Women Volleyball Championship at the end of May, in North Carolina, USA, and the 19th World Military Taekwondo Championship, in July, San Jean, Canada.
Another important point discussed was the participation of 13 American countries in the 5th Military World Games, next year in Rio. The election of the Americas CISM Vice President in February of next year was also a subject of the meeting. Colonel Marcondes’ mandate, currently in office, ends in May 2011.
At the Europe meeting, in turn, the vice presidency election has already happened. Lieutenant Colonel Cerit, Turkey, won Colonel Marginean, Romania, by 18 votes to 13. The members of the bench, however, had to vote twice, since in the first voting, the two candidates had 15 votes each. Current Europe vice-president, Colonel Bengt Nylander, Sweden, is running for CISM presidency.
The Mayor of Rio Eduardo Paes received late on Tuesday, the CISM (International Military Sports Council) Order of Merit Medal in a ceremony followed by a dinner in the City Palace (“Palácio da Cidade”). The medal was awarded by the organization's president, General Gianni Gola, who also decorated the Navy Commander, Júlio Soares de Moura Neto, the Army Commander, Enzo Martins Peri, and Air Force commander, Juniti Saito.
“It's an honor for the city to receive the 65th CISM Assembly and Congress, and next year, an event of the magnitude of the 5th Military World Games. The event will prepare us better for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. It is an enormous pleasure to receive the military sports and it will certainly be the best Military Games in history”, said Mayor Eduardo Paes.
Also present at the event, offered by the City Hall, the president of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (BOC), Carlos Arthur Nuzman, the State Secretary of Sports, Tourism and Leisure Marcia Lins, and Secretary Ruy César.
Tours to the facilities please delegates
The second day of the 65th CISM (International Military Sports Council) Assembly and Congress was marked by an unprecedented event in the history of the entity. For the first time, heads of delegations who will attend the 5th World Military Games, next year in Rio, visited the sports facilities before an event.
The site visit was attended by the significant presence of 85 delegates and went through places like CEFAN (Admiral Adalberto Nunes Physical Education Center), host of competitive naval pentathlon and taekwondo, the National Equestrian Centre, where there will be equestrian events, the UNIFA (Air Force University), the scene of part of the dispute over aeronautical pentathlon (fencing, swimming and basketball), the Green Village, which will provide accommodations for the athletes during the Rio 2011, the João Havelange Olympic Stadium, aka “Engenhão” where the athletics events and the opening ceremony of the Peace Games will take place, and the National Shooting Sports Center, site of the shooting events (including the aeronautical pentathlon).
Authorities as CISM President, General Gianni Gola, the Head of the Delegation of Brazil, Vice-Admiral Bernardo Gamboa, and the General Coordinator of the Operational Planning Committee (POC) Rio 2011, General Jamil Megid Jr., also attended the tour, which began at 8:30 am and ended at around 5 pm. Leaders were divided into three buses, each with a different route. They were able to photograph the places and ask some questions to the organizers.
At the end of the day, the organizing committee of the Peace Games was filled of praises. CISM maximum authority, General Gianni Gola was moved when passing by the Green Village. "The structure is impressive. It is a dream come true", he said with tears in his eyes.
During the visit, the General Coordinator of the POC, General Jamil Megid Jr., confirmed that all the facilities will be ready within the deadline: April 2011. "The synergy of all three levels of government has allowed us to modernize the existing premises therefore meeting the deadlines set," he said.
General Megid also announced that one of the plans to attract the public to the Rio 2011 will be the “Peace Fan” project. The idea is to distribute tickets for children and adolescents in public schools.
The Vice Admiral Bernardo Gamboa, head of the Brazilian delegation, said that Brazil's goal is to be among the first three in Peace Games medals’ table. "The Military World Games will produce high level athletes for the Brazilian sport”, concluded.
At night, the leaders went to the City Palace (“Palácio da Cidade”), where they attended a ceremony, followed by a dinner offered by Rio City Hall. Mayor Eduardo Paes received from the CISM President, General Gianni Gola, the CISM Order of Merit Medal. The Navy Commander, Júlio Soares de Moura Neto, the Army Commander, Enzo Martins Peri, and Air Force commander, Juniti Saito, were also honored.
Delegations visit sports facilities of World Military Games RIO-2011
Members of more than 70 foreign delegations, who will be in Rio de Janeiro to the 65th General Assembly and Congress of CISM (International Military Sports Council), 10-15 May, will attend a visit by the major sports facilities where it will be held competitions of the 5th Military World Games – The Peace Games - in 2011. The site visit will take place Tuesday (05/11) and will be attended by the CISM President - General Gianni Gola, by the Head of the Delegation of Brazil - Vice-Admiral Bernardo Gamboa, and by the General Coordinator of the Operational Planning Committee (POC) of Rio 2011, General Jamil Megid Jr.
The nearly 250 people taking part in the tour - including 131 heads of delegations and 20 presidents of the committees of the CISM Sport - will be divided into three groups.
The first group will visit the CEFAN (Physical Education Center Admiral Adalberto Nunes), venue of the competitions of naval pentathlon and taekwondo; the National Equestrian Centre, where will be the equestrian events; the UNIFA (University of the Air Force), where it will occur part of the Aircraft dispute pentathlon (fencing, swimming and basketball); the Green Village, a village that will provide accommodations for the athletes during the Rio 2011 and the Olympic Stadium João Havelange (aka “Engenhão”), where the athletics events and the opening ceremony of the Peace Games will take place.
The script of the second group also includes the Green Village, the National Equestrian Centre, UNIFA and Engenhão, as well as the National Shooting Sports Centre, site of the shooting events (including the pentathlon aircraft), and the WaterPark Maria Lenk, home of the swimming contest.
The third group will begin the visit by the Waterpark Maria Lenk, and then pass by Engenhão, followed by the Green Village, UNIFEM and the National Equestrian Centre. The tour ends at the National Shooting Sports Centre.

The day before, members of the participating delegations will visit some of the local competitions of the World Military Games - Rio 2011.
The schedule of the debates in Congress will begin on the 13th, with a lecture by Pr. Thierry ZINTZ, PE phD (BEL), University of Louvain, Belgium, on marketing through actions for peace and social responsibility. Still on the first day, some internal affairs of the entity as financial issues and the reformulation of the statute will also be discussed.
On day 14, the discussions will revolve around strategic plans for 2011, including the presentation of the CISM calendar for next year. The main event of the second day, however, will be the presentation of the 5th CISM Military World Games in Rio. At the end of the day, the President of CISM, General Gianni Gola, will make a farewell speech and show a film about his career while leading the entity.
The last day of the Assembly will be marked by election of the new CISM President. Two candidates are in contention for the title: Colonel Bengt Nylander (right), Sweden, CISM Vice President for Europe, and Colonel Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, Cameroon, CISM Vice President for Africa. All participating countries of the Assembly and Congress who are up to date with the annuity are entitled to one vote. The election is secret and the votes will be counted by a committee formed by members of the entity. The vice president and a member of the Director Committee will also be elected at the time.
The 65th Assembly and Congress of CISM (International Military Sports Council), 10-15 May in Rio de Janeiro, has its importance reflected in the numbers. About 350 people will attend the event, which will also serve as preparation for the 5th Military World Games – The Peace Games - next year, at “Cidade Maravilhosa”.
Three hundred and thirty six people will be working in the organization of the Assembly, being 80 people of the Operational Planning Committee (POC), and 256 so-called "work force", a group of soldiers and civilians called to assist in the mission.
The area that will have the largest number of people involved is security. It will be 92 in total (6 of the PCO and 86 of the workforce). Besides the security itself of more than 70 delegations attending the Assembly, the area will be responsible for the accreditation process and the intelligence part of the event.
The corporate area, which covers marketing and press, will be 75 people (16 of the CPO and 59 of the workforce). Seventy persons (10 of the CPO and 60 of the workforce) will be responsible for logistics (transportation, tickets, recruiting, among other functions) of the event.
Another 99 people will be distributed on three areas: 60 in the command and control (18 of the CPO and 42 of the workforce), responsible for the communication and information technology, 37 in the games area (28 of the CPO and 9 of the workforce), whose involvement is specifically with the World Military Games, and two (CPO) of the human resources.
The Assembly begins on the 13th, at the Othon Hotel in Copacabana. One day before, the opening ceremony will take place in an event at the “Pracinhas” Monument in celebration of the Victory Day marking the end of World War II. On the 11th, members of the participating delegations will visit some of the local competitions of the World Military Games - Rio 2011.
The opening of the 65th General Assembly & Congress of CISM will be held at the II World War Memorial, where the presence of the CISM family in Rio de Janeiro will be recorded with an official photo before the beginning of the Victory Medal Award ceremony.
After the arrival of the authorities and the paying of honors to former combatants, the Ministry of Defense Anthem will be performed, followed by the launch of the RIO2011 5th CISM Military World Games Commemorative Stamp by the Post Office and Telegraph Company. After that, all CISM member nations will officially receive the invitation to participate in the Games.
The addresses of Major General Dr. Gianni Gola, CISM President, and Dr. Nelson Jobim, Defense Minister will be made before the Victory Medal is awarded to Armed Forces’ servicemen, to national civilians, to foreign military servicemen, to foreign civilians, as well as to national institutions that have contributed to disseminate information about the achievements of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force and other Brazilian soldiers during the II World War. It is worth highlighting that the CISM President and the CISM Flag will also be decorated on the occasion.
The authorities at the Memorial will lay a wreath of flowers at the tomb of the “Unknown Soldier”. Closing the ceremony, a parade of FEB veterans will take place.
After the ceremony, there will be a press conference to present the 65th CISM General Assembly & Congress, the logo and the preparations regarding the 5th Military World Games
