BRUSSELS (BEL) - It is with regret that CISM announces the cancellation of the World Military Pentathlon Championship (WMC) scheduled to take place in Denmark in 2025.
The Danish organizers have informed CISM of their decision to withdraw from hosting the event due to internal challenges that have unfortunately made it unfeasible to proceed with the championship. This difficult decision reflects the complexity of organizing an event of this magnitude, requiring significant coordination and resources to ensure its success.
CISM acknowledges the efforts and commitment made by the Danish Armed Forces in the preparatory stages of this championship and understands the challenges they faced. Denmark has long been a valued member of the CISM family, contributing significantly to the promotion of military sports and international friendship through various events.
While this cancellation is disappointing for the global military pentathlon community, CISM remains committed to ensuring the continuity of this historic championship, which has served as a cornerstone of military sports for decades. Efforts will now focus on identifying alternative solutions, including exploring possibilities for other member nations to step in as hosts.
CISM would like to express its gratitude to all stakeholders, athletes, and delegations for their understanding and patience as the organization navigates this unexpected situation. Updates on the future of the 2025 World Military Pentathlon Championship will be shared as soon as they become available.
