Brazil and Germany lead the charge on an exciting Day 2 at the 53rd WMC Swimming in Warendorf

 

Day 1 (62)

 

WARENDORF (GER) - The second day of the 53rd World Military Swimming Championship, held yesterday, December 11, in Warendorf, Germany, delivered a spectacular showcase of talent and determination, with swimmers from across the globe vying for top honors in a series of high-intensity finals.

 

In the 800m Freestyle female, Germany dominated the podium as Jeannette Spiwoks secured gold with a remarkable time of 08:37.98, followed closely by her compatriot Maya Werner at 08:43.05. Poland's Paulina Piechota claimed bronze with a time of 09:56.68.

 

The 200m Breaststroke female final saw Gabrielle Assis of Brazil clinch gold in 02:25.46, a commanding performance that placed her well ahead of Bangladesh’s Romana Akther, who took silver with 02:52.97. France's Ambre Comte earned bronze in 03:07.44.

In the 200m Breaststroke male, Korea’s Yang Sug Hyun set the pace with a stellar gold-winning time of 02:11.56. Maksym Ovchinnikov of Ukraine finished just behind at 02:12.73 to secure silver, while Greece’s Marios Theodoros Zafeiropoulos took bronze with 02:13.55.

 

The 100m Freestyle female final was a testament to Brazil's dominance in sprint events. Aline Rodrigues powered to gold with 00:56.03, followed by her teammate Lorrane Ferreira at 00:56.56. Poland's Aleksandra Polanska rounded out the podium with 00:57.02.

 

In the 100m Freestyle male, Brazil’s Victor Aleará delivered a spectacular performance, touching the wall in 00:48.99 to claim gold. Kacper Majchrzak of Poland took silver in 00:50.02, narrowly edging out Switzerland’s Robin Yeboah, who finished in 00:50.03.

 

Day 1 (57)

 

Poland shone in the 400m Individual Medley female, with Paula Zukowska taking gold in 05:08.92. However, Bangladesh's Mst Mukti Khatun was disqualified during the event. In the male counterpart, Brazil’s Stephan Steverink demonstrated exceptional form, winning gold in 04:14.97, while Switzerland secured silver and bronze through Gian-Luca Gartmann (04:24.79) and Julien Niederberger (04:27.51), respectively.

 

The 50m Butterfly female was dominated by Anna Dowgiert of Poland, who captured gold in a swift 00:26.72. Germany's Laura Riedemann claimed silver in 00:28.72, with France’s Ava Petre taking bronze in 00:29.07. The 50m Butterfly male final ended in a dramatic tie for silver as Germany’s Luca Nik Armbruster and Korea’s Yoon Jae Oh clocked identical times of 00:23.81. The gold went to Vladyslav Bukhov of Ukraine, who finished in 00:23.43.

 

Day 1 (64)

 

Team events brought thrilling conclusions to the day. Germany triumphed in the 4x200m Freestyle female relay, with the quartet of Leonie Kullmann, Jeannette Spiwoks, Celine Rieder, and Maya Werner clocking 08:15.39. Brazil secured silver in 08:30.11, and Poland took bronze with 09:01.35. In the 4x200m Freestyle male relay, Brazil’s team of Stephan Steverink, Guilherme Rosolen, Fernando Scheffer, and Victor Aleará dominated with a winning time of 07:28.75. Poland finished second in 07:36.74, and Korea claimed bronze with 07:37.96.
