Two new Olympic titles for CISM athletes ahead of the final day of the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo - Day 15

TOKYO (FRA) - With one day to go before the end of the Tokyo Olympic Games, CISM's military athletes have once again won two Olympic titles, one silver and three bronze medals.

3rd Sergeant Hebert Wilian Carvalho da Conceição Sousa (BRA) gave Oleksandr Khyzhniak (UKR) no chance in the Men's Middle 69-75kg (Boxing) final. The Brazilian had conceded the first two rounds but knocked out the Ukrainian in the third round to claim the Olympic title.

At 28, Russian Captain Maria Lasitskene added a fourth medal to her collection of world titles with her Olympic title in Women's High Jump. She gave Russia its first gold medal in athletics with a jump of 2.04 and left Australia's Nicola McDermott two centimetres behind.

In athletics, the Polish women's 4×400m relay won the Olympic silver medal. Polish Armed Forces representatives Iga Baumgart-Witan, Małgorzata Hołub-Kowalik, Justyna Święty-Ersetic and their teammate Natalia Kaczmarek broke the national record with a time of 3:20:53. This is the fourteenth medal for the Polish team in Tokyo!

In Rowing, Private Saúl Craviotto with his teammates Marcus Cooper Walz, Carlos Arévalo and Rodrigo Germade finished second in the K4 500 Men, offering Spain its fourteenth medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games. The race was dominated by the Spanish team but in the last few meters the German quartet, the big favorite, accelerated to grab gold. Slovakia finished third.

The Polish kayaking team of composed of Karolina Naja, Anna Pulawska, Justyna Iskrzycka and Helena Wisniewska, representative of the Polish Armed Forces, won a bronze medal in the Women's Kayak Four 4 500m (Canoe Sprint) yesterday. The Polish team was defeated beaten by Hungary, which won the Olympic title, by only 0.982 seconds. Belarus took silver.


In wrestling, Italian Corporal Abraham de Jesus Conyedo Ruano defeated Turkey's Karadeniz in the Men's Freestyle 97kg bronze medal match, followed moments later by Russian Warrant Officer Rashidov Gadzhimurad defeating Iran's Muszukajev and winning the Men's Freestyle 65kg bronze medal.
