Successful start to the 4th CISM World Cadet Games in Caracas, Venezuela

CARACAS (VEN) - The 4th CISM World Cadet Games officially kicked off on Sunday, August 18, 2024, with an exhilarating day of competition following the grandeur of the Opening Ceremony. Hosted in the historic city of Caracas, Venezuela, the Games have brought together young military athletes from around the globe in a spirit of camaraderie, friendship, and competitive excellence.

 

The first day of the Games saw a remarkable display of skill and sportsmanship across multiple disciplines, with standout performances in fencing, volleyball, and military pentathlon.

 

Day 1 & 2 (8)

 

In a thrilling encounter at the Bolivarian National Guard Military Academy, Venezuela's Women's Team Epée claimed a significant victory over Russia with a 7-2 win, securing the gold medal in front of a supportive home crowd. This achievement underscored the spirit of unity and mutual respect that characterizes the Games, as athletes from both nations competed in an atmosphere of solidarity.

 

In the Men's Team Foil event, the Russian team narrowly edged out Venezuela in a closely contested match, winning 5-4 and taking the gold medal.

 

Day 1 & 2 (3)

 

Volleyball fans were treated to a series of exciting matches as the preliminary rounds of the competition began. In the Women's event, China faced off against Russia, with Russia emerging victorious in straight sets (25/13, 25/10, 25/9). Meanwhile, Venezuela dominated their match against China, winning 3-0 (25/6, 25/2, 25/9), much to the delight of the local supporters. The Men’s event saw similar results, with Russia defeating China 3-0 (25/17, 25/13, 25/15), while Venezuela triumphed over China with a 3-0 victory (25/11, 25/10, 25/20).

 

The Military Pentathlon events also commenced, showcasing the diverse skills of the cadet athletes. In the Women’s Military Pentathlon shooting event, Venezuelan claimed first place, outperforming two strong Chinese competitors. On the men’s side, the Russia took the top spot, followed by China and Turkey.
