CISM World Cadet Games 2024 begin in Caracas, promoting Unity and Friendship

CARACAS (VEN) - The IV World Cadet Games 2024 were officially inaugurated at the Bolivarian Military University of Venezuela's Honor Courtyard in Fuerte Tiuna, Caracas. Delegations from China, Iran, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and Venezuela participated in the ceremony.

General-in-Chief Vladimir Padrino López, the Sectoral Vice President for Political Sovereignty, Security, and Peace, served as the guest of honor. In his address, he emphasized that the CISM Military World Games are a powerful tool for fostering connections between different cultures and nationalities.

Padrino López highlighted the significance of these competitions in promoting brotherhood, unity, and solidarity among the CISM member nations. He expressed gratitude to CISM for entrusting Venezuela with the opportunity to host the games, enabling the country to spread the organization's values under its motto, "Friendship Through Sport."

Navy Captain Roberto Recchia, CISM Secretary General, and representative of the CISM President, also delivered remarks during the ceremony. He commended the National Bolivarian Armed Forces for their outstanding commitment to hosting the event, stating, "Your dedication and willingness to unite cadets from around the world exemplify the spirit of cooperation and peace that CISM strives to promote."

Captain Recchia reminded the cadets that the primary goal of the games, first held in 2010, is to instill CISM's values in their minds. He encouraged them to use this platform not only to showcase their talents but also to forge connections with their peers from other nations.

The opening ceremony featured a parade of delegations, the symbolic journey and lighting of the torch, a fireworks display, and various cultural presentations. The event was attended by high-ranking military officials, invited guests, spectators, and diplomatic and military attachés accredited in the country, as well as CISM officials responsible for overseeing the games.
