The 1st Military Men's Rugby-7 Challenge 2023 kicked off in style !


MOSCOW (RUS) - On the eve of the evening, a technical meeting was held with the representatives of the teams participating in the 1st Military Men's Rugby-7 Challenge 2023, during which the tournament draw also took place.

 

The schedule of the entire tournament is presented below. The tournament will take place at the stadium of the sports complex in "Luzhniki". Admission for spectators is free.

The CISM President Colonel Nilton Rolim inaugurated the historic 1st Military Men's Rugby-7 Challenge 2023 at the sports complex of the Olympic Complex "Luzhniki" in Moscow.

 

Addressing the guests and participants of the competition, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Pankov, conveyed a welcoming message from the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergey Shoigu and pronounced the formula for the official opening of the tournament.

 

The CISM President Colonel Nilton Rolim also said: "This event is not just a competition, but also a promotion of friendship and understanding through sports. We believe that sports can unite people, and we must follow our motto 'Friendship through Sport.' It's not just about winning or losing, but also about striving to be the best individually and as a team. This embodies the spirit of sportsmanship, fair play, and respect for teammates and countries on the field. Let's strive to create an atmosphere of camaraderie and friendship that will last long after the end of this event."

The 1st Military Men's Rugby-7 Challenge 2023 will take place from August 24 to 26 in Moscow.

 

The participating teams include the armed forces of Russia, the Republic of Belarus, the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and the Republic of South Africa.

 

On August 25, the teams will play a series of matches in the group stage. The game day will start at 10:00, followed by quarter-final matches at 14:40.

 

August 26 will host the most crucial matches of the entire tournament, determining the winner of the competition. The third day of the competition will begin with semi-finals for the fifth place at 11:20. The final matches will start at 13:20, with the final match at 14:20. The closing and award ceremony for winners and medalists will take place on August 26, 2023, at 15:00.
