TOKYO (FRA) - The 32nd Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games have now come to an end and, after a superb closing ceremony, the city of Tokyo handed over the baton to Paris, which will host the 2024 Olympic Games.
On the final day of competition yesterday, our military athletes had to settle for silver and bronze medals.
In boxing, 3rd Sergeant Beatriz Iasmim Soares Ferreira was defeated by Ireland's Kellie Harrington in the Women's Light (57-60kg) final yesterday in Tokyo. The Brazilian, the 2019 World Champion, dominated the fight which went to its conclusion, but the judges finally awarded Harrington a unanimous points victory, much to the disappointment of the Brazilian delegation present in the stands.

Italy also took advantage of the last day of these Olympic Games to bring to 40 the number of medals won during this event. This was thanks to the five representatives of the Italian Armed Forces, Corporals Alessia Maurelli, Martina Centofanti, Agnese Duranti, Martina Santandrea and Daniela Mogurean, who took the bronze medal in the Group All-Around competition in Rhytmic Gymnastics with an overall score of 87.700, behind Bulgaria and Russia, who won gold and silver respectively.

The last military medal of these Olympic Games was won by Hungarian Corporal Norbert Hosnyánszky, who is retiring from the Hungarian national team at the same time. The Hungarian team defeated Spain (9/5) in the bronze medal match of the men's water polo competition after an extremely difficult match marked by numerous exclusions. Corporal Norbert Hosnyánszky made his debut for the Hungarian national team in 2005. He won the 2013 World Championship and the 2020 European Championship with the national team, but his greatest success is undoubtedly the Olympic title won in 2008 in Beijing.
