Vote for the CISM Athlete of the Year 2023 !
BRUSSELS (BEL) – Get ready to cast your vote on the online platform for the "CISM Athlete of the Year 2023 Award"!
This prestigious award aims to recognize outstanding athletic performances and is bestowed upon an athlete who embodies qualities such as eligibility, fair play, personal empathy, discipline, and respect for rules and others. The selection process also considers self-behavior, among other criteria, with the intention of honoring athletes who actively promote CISM values and contribute to the visibility of CISM.
Eligible candidates for this prestigious award include both male and female individuals actively serving in the military, having participated in CISM events of World Level Sports, specifically during the CISM World Military Championships or CISM Military World Games.
The evaluation period encompasses the CISM Championships calendar year, spanning from January 1st to December 31st, 2023. This comprehensive timeframe ensures a thorough assessment of athletes' performances and contributions throughout the specified year.
The CISM General Secretariat adheres to the procedures outlined in CISM Regulations Article 6.10. In 2023, we received 20 nominations from the CISM Sport Committees of World Level Sports that hosted a World Military Championship in the same year.
To select the male and female Athletes of the Year 2023 from the pool of 20 nominees, we underwent a meticulous 5-month process, following these steps:

Online Voting: From December 15, 2023, to February 1, 2024, conducted on the CISM website.

Presidents of CISM Sports Committee Voting: Taking place from February 5 to February 10, 2024

Selection Commission: Convening on February 13, 2024.

Board of Directors Voting: Scheduled from February 19 to February 22, 2024, during the 1st BoD Meeting of 2024

Award at GA (General Assembly): The final stage, occurring from May 12 to May 19, 2024, during the 79th GA of 2024.
During the online voting, one female and one male athlete will be chosen. In the subsequent step, the Presidents of CISM Sports Committees will vote for two additional athletes in each category. In the third and fourth steps, a commission will meticulously review the records of three male and three female candidates, proposing the most deserving candidate per gender to the Board of Directors for the ultimate approval.
Voting is open from December 15, 2023, until February 1, 2024 (midnight, Belgian time). Each person is entitled to cast only one vote.
