Rio 2016 Olympic Games - CISM Top Athletes Results - Update 4

 

 

RIO DE JANEIRO – The host country Brazil won its first title in the Rio 2016 Olympics. Indeed, the judoka and 3 SG (Navy) Rafaela Lopes Silva, who grew up in Rio's City of God community, beat Sumiya Dorjsuren of Mongolia in the 57kg final. She took advantage of the support of her family and fans who were out in force to support her. 

 

 

"It really helped me with momentum and the pressure against my opponents," she said.  "The stadium was shaking, everybody was screaming and cheering me on every minute”.

 

 

 

In the women's individual sabre, the fencer and First Lieutenant Sofya Velikaya (RUS) won the silver medal. She already won the silver medal in the London 2012 Olympic Games.

 

 

In the Sailing RS X- Women Competition (windsurfer), Quartier Maître 2e Cl. (M) Charline Picon, took the lead after 3 races out of 12!
