BRUSSELS - Dear Friends, the XXXI Olympic Games Flame stopped lighting in the Olympic Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
Therefore, as President of the International Military Sports Council, I have the tremendous privilege to express my gratitude towards the hundreds of military athletes who participated in the Olympics and performed their dreams by competing in the best sport event in the world.
Moreover, I would like to congratulate the 113 Olympic Medallists - 33 Gold, 38 Silver and 42 Bronze from 23 countries, who promoted CISM in Olympic ideals proving that CISM is always an important protagonist in the International Sport Arena. Additionally, I would like to thank the Brazilian Armed Forces for their historical contribution to the organization of 10 Olympic Sports during these Olympic Games. With this contribution, they represented the 20.000.000 militaries who are working all over the world for ‘’Sport and Peace’’. Concluding, I would like to express my appreciation to the Brazilian Delegation at CISM - Vice Admiral Paulo Martino Zuccaro for hosting CISM delegations and CISM Authorities in the CISM Club in Rio.
