WIENER NEUSTADT (AUT) – Yesterday, August 9th, the competitions started at the 63rd World Military Championship Pentathlon in Wiener Neustadt (AUT) with the shooting event. 39 athletes were competing in the shooting individual women competition, dominated by the CSgt Jenny Lindkvist who also established a new world record in the discipline (Slow Fire: 100, Rapid Fire: 99, Total: 199-8x, Points: 1135,8). What an amazing performance realized by the Swedish athlete! With 1129,5 points, Pvt Helene Nielsen (DEN) took the second place of the competition (Slow Fire: 100, Rapid Fire: 98, Total: 198-10x) followed by Brazilian Sgt Camila Campanhola (Slow Fire: 100, Rapid Fire: 98, Total: 198-9x, Points: 1129,1). In the shooting team women event, Russia (WO Naumova, SGT Konokpo, Lt Egorova and WO Aksenova) took the first place with a total of 3306,2 points, followed by China (Cpl Wu, 1. Pvt Guan, 2. Lt Sun and 1. Lt Wang) with 3292,8 points and Denmark (Pvt Nielsen, Pvt Hjalager, Sgt Lihn and Pvt Tolstrup) with 3272,6 points. The Sgt Roman Hvalonski (EST) realized also a wonderful performance and took the first place of the shooting individual men event: 100 in Slow Fire, 99 in Rapid Fire, 8x (Mouches) for a total of 1135 points. There was a tie for the second place: both 1. Sgt Martin Scherer (GER) and Lt Alexey Svechnikov (RUS) realized the same performance: SF: 100, RF: 98, Total: 198-8x, Points: 1128,8). As in the women team event, the male Russian team (Lt Svechnikov, Cpt Blinov, Cpt Botcman, WO Svechnikov and 2. Lt Alpatov) also won the shooting team men event with 4416,4 points. Brazil (Cpt Garcia, Cpt Cabral, Lt Castro, Lt Sales and Cpt Torres) took the second place with 4381 points and Germany (1.
