63rd WMC Military Pentathlon - Wiener Neustadt (AUT) - Update - Day 5

 

 

WIENER NEUSTADT (AUT) – On August 12th, the last event of the individual and team competition, cross country, took place for both male (8000m) and female (4000m) competitors.
Once again, Russia achieved an impressive result with three athletes on the podium of the individual women cross country event: WO Iulia Naumova won the gold medal with a 13:59,2 time (1120,8 points), preceded by Lt. Liudmila Egorova (14:11,5 – 1108,5 points) and WO Evgenia Aksenova (14:21,6 – 1098,4 points). Russia (WO Naumova, Lt. Egorova, WO Aksenova and Sgt. Konopko) also won the team women cross country competition with 3327,7 points. China took the second place with 3205,8 points and Denmark finished third (3190,8 points). In the individual men cross country event, WO Pavel Mikhniuk (BLR) realized the best performance (24:45:2 – 1194,8 points) and took the first place ahead of 1. Cpl. Mourad Djilali (ALG), 24:14,0 – 1166,0 points, and 2 Lt. Sergei Alpatov (RUS – 25:25,9 – 1153,1 points). The Russian team (2 Lt. Alpatov, Lt. Svechnikov, Cpt. Botcman, WO Svechnikov and Cpt. Blinov) finished the team men cross country competition on the first place of the podium with 4392,9 points, preceded by China (4377,1 points) and Algeria (4342,2 points). Final results:

After her second place in the 6th CISM World Summer Games 2015 in Mungyeong, the Russian athlete WO Iulia Naumova managed to win the two gold medal in the individual and team competition. In the individual competition, she finished on the first place of the podium with a total of 5447,9 points and won two events (obstacle swimming and cross country). Cpl. Qian Wu (CHN) took the silver medal with 5403,0 points while Lt. Liudmila Egorova (RUS) finished on the third step of the podium with 5356,4 points. Thanks to their performance in cross country, team Russia (WO Iulia Naumova, Lt. Liudmila Egorova, Sgt. Anastasiia Konokpo and WO Evgenia Aksenova – 16081,2 points) managed to overtake China in the last event. China (Cpl. Wu, 1. Lt Wang, 1. Pvt. Guan and 2. Lt. Sun) finally finished second with 16046,6 points. Bronze medal goes to Denmark (Sgt. Lihn, Pvt. Hjalager, Pvt. Nielsen, Pvt. Tolstrup – 15969,9 points). 2nd Lt Sergei Alpatov (RUS), who took the gold medal at the 6th CISM World Summer Games in Mungyeong (KOR) and the silver medal at the 61st WMC Military Pentathlon in Yeongcheon (KOR), succeeded in winning a second gold medal in a row here in Wiener Neustadt (5568,3 points). He was preceded by SSgt. Andrej Sonnenberg (GER) who finished the contest with 5516,6 points. The bronze medal goes to Cpt. Tiago Cabral (BRA – 5515,1 points). In the individual newcomer men final ranking, SenLt. Chung Song Ri (PRK) finished on the first step of the podium with 5405,9 points ahead of Cpl. Zheng Zhang (CHN – 5306,1 points) and 2.Lt Un Chol Kim (PRK – 5266,1 points). Finally, Brazil (Cpt. Cabral, Lt. Castro, Cpt. Garcia, Cpt. Torres and Lt. Sales) took the gold medal in the team men event final ranking with 21732,9 points. China (2. Lt. Gong, 2. Lt. Pan, 1. Lt. Li, SSgt. Aniuergu and Cpl. Zhang – 21675,2 points) and Russia (2. Lt. Alpatov, Lt. Svechnikov, Cpt. Blinov, WO Svechnikov and Cpt. Botcman – 21518,2 points) are completing the podium. One of the most impressive competition of the military pentathlon also took place on August 13th from 9.00 a.m. until 1.00 p.m. for the last day of competition of this 63rd WMC Military Pentathlon: the obstacle relay! More information will come soon.
