63rd WMC Military Pentathlon - Wiener Neustadt (AUT) - Update - Day 3

 


WIENER NEUSTADT (AUT) – The obstacle run took place yesterday, August 10th, in Wiener Neustadt (AUT) in the framework of the third day of competition of the 63rd WMC Military Pentathlon. The male and female athletes had to face a quite intense 500m run composed of 20 obstacles for the men and 16 obstacles for the women.

In the individual women obstacle run event, Capt. Ok Ryu (PRK) won the gold medal with a time of 2:17,5 awarding her 1157,5 points. The 1.Lt. Tang Lin Wang from China, took the second place (2:17,9 – 1140,6 points) while Sgt. Nanna Lihn (DEN) finished on the third step of the podium (2:24,4 – 1109,2 points). After two events (shooting and obstacle run), Sgt. Anastasiia Konokpo (RUS) is leading the provisional individual ranking with a total of 2212,0 points. Thanks to her wonderful performance in the second event, Capt. Ok Ryu (PRK) took the second place of this provisional ranking (2206,5 points). The third step is occupied by 1.Pvt Chaonan Guan (CHN) with a total of 2201,8 points. The provisional ranking is available here.

In the team women obstacle run event, China (1.Lt Wang, 1.Pvt Guan, Cpl. Wu and 2.Lt Sun) took the first place (3316,9 points) preceded by Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (3258,9 points) and Russia (3245,5 points). The detailed results of the team women obstacle run are available here.

 

 

The provisional ranking (after two events) of the team women competition is led by China (6552,7 points) with a small 5 points advantage on Russia (6551,7 points) while Denmark is ranked third (6505,0 points). For the team women provisional ranking, click here.

 

In the individual men obstacle run event, 2.Lt Yucheng Pan from China (2:15,2) won the race with a 0,3 seconds lead on Brazilian Lt Douglas Castro (2:15,5). 2.Lt Sergei Alpatov (RUS) took the third place of the podium (2:16,2). The local athlete Zgf. Markus Weber (AUT) is now leading the provisional ranking after two events with a total of 2258,9 points and is staying ahead of Lt. Douglas Castro (BRA – 2251,3 points) and Kpl. Philipp Eibl (AUT – 2248,4 points). The provisional ranking is available here.

Brazil (Lt. Castro, Cpt. Cabral, Cpt. Torres, Lt. Sales, Cpt. Garcia) won the team men obstacle run event with a total of 4533,9 points with a comfortable lead on China (4466,1 points) and Ecuador (4414,1 points). The detailed results of the team men obstacle run are available here.

 

 

Thanks to his victory in the team men obstacle run competition, Brazil is also leading the provisional ranking of the team men competition with 8901,0 points after two events. A further highlight of this day was the presence of the Austrian Federal Minister of Defense, Mr. Hans Peter Doskozil who encouraged the athletes all day long!

 

 

The obstacle swimming will take place today in the morning while the throwing competition will start in the afternoon!
