The major sport event of 2017 is about to start in 100 days.

SOCHI (RUS) - The 3rd Winter Military World Games will take place in Sochi from 22 to 28 February 2017.

The Ministry of Defence of Russia is now responsible for the organization of the event and the Central Sport Club of the Army (CSKA) is the event's operator. Sergey Shoygu, Minister of Defence, the General of the Army and Hero of Russia, personally suggested the Games to be held in Russia and he is now the Head of the Sochi 2017 Organizing Committee.

The Colonel of the Army Mikhail Baryshev, Head of CSKA, declared: "The choice of Sochi as the place for such an important international winter event was not accidental. Sochi is already a multifunctional centre of winter sports with existing infrastructures for big events. The legacy of the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi includes stadiums, sport centres and mechanisms for professional logistics".

The Organizing Committee of the Military World Winter Games has already specified the list of the sites that would be involved in the event. The Games will take place in the seaside and the mountain clusters: ski/biathlon complex 'Laura' (biathlon, cross-country, ski orienteering), mountain centre 'Rosa-Khutor' (mountain skiing, Alpine skiing); winter sports centre 'Iceberg' (short track) and winter palace 'Bolshoi' (indoor climbing).

The national sport federations have already approved the program of the Games and the routes for the sport tracks. Also, the federations preliminarily approved the teams of the judges and their arrival. 488 specialists will be involved in the games including the judges.

Besides, there are currently discussions about the program of the visit for sportsmen and delegations of the countries-participants. 4 hotels with 1054 rooms will host the guests, and up to 100 transportation facilities of different types (touristic, city transport, mini-buses and cars) will be involved in the logistics.

Mikhail Baryshev concluded: "The reparation for the Games is now in its most active phase and is going according to the schedule. There are no delays and we are not expecting any in the future. Our team is working simultaneously in several directions to enable the most successful Military World Winter Games in the history of this event".
