Launching of the Trophy of the 2nd Military World Football Cup 2017 in Muscat (OMA)

MUSCAT (OMA) - On Tuesday December 13, the Trophy of the 2nd Military World Football Cup 2017 was officially introduced to the media. From January 15 to January 28 2017, the Omani delegation will host the 2nd Military World Football Cup in Muscat.

Colonel Abdulhakeem Alshino, CISM President, Colonel Abdulraheem Bello, CISM 2nd Military World Football Cup Project Manager, Colonel Carlos Santos, CISM Sports Director and David Vandenplas, CISM Media and Communication Director attended the Ceremony organized under the auspices of Lieutenant General PSC Ahmed bin Harith bin Nasser Al Nabhani, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces and Chief of the Organizing Committee. Ambassadors, the Commandant National Defence College, senior officers of the Sultan's Armed Forces, executive representatives of the Muscat government and private companies as well as media representatives and athletes also attended the event.

In his welcome speech, Lieutenant General PSC Ahmed bin Harith bin Nasser Al Nabhani, thanked CISM for giving Oman the opportunity of organizing such an important event: “This event will show to the world that Oman is ready to organize an international and prestigious sports event!”.

The mascot of the tournament and the ambassadors of the tournament were then introduced to the media and crowd in attendance. After that, Lieutenant General PSC Ahmed bin Harith bin Nasser Al Nabhani inaugurated the championship trophy, which is a soccer ball representing the map of the world and a dagger grip, symbol of the country.

After the ceremony, a second press conference took place with the CISM President, Colonel Abdulhakeem Alshino, Lieutenant General PSC Ahmed bin Harith bin Nasser Al Nabhani and Lieutenant-Colonel Khalid Al Jabri, Chief of Delegation of Oman to CISM & Vice president of the Organizing Committee. They answered the questions of the media representatives related to the preparation works of this important CISM event.
