Serbian national military team wins 13th CISM Futsal Cup for Peace


NOVI SAD (SRB) - The team of the Serbian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces won the 13th CISM Futsal Cup for Peace, which took place from June 20 to 24 at the SPENS sports and business center in Novi Sad. The tournament, which officially ended yesterday, was organized by the Serbian CISM delegation. In addition to the local team, military teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Northern Macedonia and Montenegro participated in this traditional military sports event.

On the sports level, we witnessed a high level competition refereed by FIFA referees. In the last and decisive match, Serbia faced Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the first half ended in a draw, the Serbian military team finally won the match with the score of 3 goals to 2, and also managed to take the first place in the tournament with the maximum number of points.


The silver medal went to Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the Montenegrin national team won bronze. Slovenia took fourth place and the team from North Macedonia finished the tournament in fifth place.

In terms of individual awards, Matej Lukić of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national military team won the award for the best goalkeeper of the tournament, and the trophy was presented to him by captain Ljubiša Marković. The top scorers of the tournament were Luka Marković (Montenegro) and Aleksa Pešić (Serbia), and the cups were presented to them by Lieutenant Colonel Jan van den Dool while Aleksa Pešić also won the award for the best player of the 13th CISM Futsal Cup for Peace, which was presented to him by Colonel Nevzat Varol, accompanied by the famous Serbian national team player Miloš Krasić.


The tournament ended with a closing ceremony attended by Colonel Richard Emeh, Official CISM Representative of the event; Lieutenant Colonel Jan van den Dool, CISM Sports Director; Brigadier General Zoran Nasković, Commander of the First Army Brigade; Colonel Nevzat Varol, Football CSC Member and Lieutenant Colonel Negovan Ivanković, PhD, Acting Head of the Serbian Delegation to CISM. The latter presented the trophies and medals to the best teams, as well as medals to all participants.

Colonel Richard Emeh, Official CISM Representative of the event, took the floor during the Closing Ceremony: "CISM will continue to make efforts to contribute, through sport, to the consolidation of peace and the overcoming of differences that could divide the different nations. I would like to thank the delegations representing the armed forces of the nations gathered on this occasion and to congratulate you all for your commitment to sport and peace, and for the discipline you have shown during the event. Rest assured that the CISM family is truly proud of you. The four days of sports and cultural activities in Serbia were fascinating". Colonel Emeh then expressed his gratitude to the host country, the organizing committee and heads of delegations, referees and players for their outstanding performance and declared the 13th CISM Futsal Cup for Peace officially closed.

At the closing ceremony, the acting head of the Serbian delegation to CISM, Lieutenant Colonel Ivanković, presented letters of thanks to the associates who helped organize the cup: the first army brigade, the military academy, the department of public relations (Ministry of Defense), the youth of Vojvodina, the city of Novi Sad, the provincial institute of sports and sports medicine of Vojvodina, the tourist organization of Vojvodina, the tourist organization of the city of Novi Sad, the sports and business center "Vojvodina - SPENS", the hotel "Putnik", the soccer association of Novi Sad, the association "Folklorika", Novi Sad, and the soccer club "Professor Bolesnikov".
