49th WMC Shooting – Doha (QAT) – Competition Day 2 in presence of ISSF Representatives

DOHA (QAT) – Yesterday, November 15, the CISM shooters gathered for the second day of competition of the 49th CISM World Military Championship in Doha (QAT) in the Losail Shooting Sports Complex.

In the Individual Trap Men Event, Karsten Bindrich (GER) imitated the performance of her teammate Katrin Quooss by taking the first place and securing a second gold medal for the German Team after an amazing performance. The German shooter who already participated in 4 Olympic Games (1996, 2004, 2008 & 2012) managed to defeat the Chinese Xiaokai Yu in the gold medal game (12-9). The bronze medal was awarded to Andreas Low who defeated Robin Danek (CZE) in the bronze medal game (13-9), emphasizing the German domination on the trap competition.

"It’s really a good feeling to win here in Doha. I had to face a really strong opponent in the final game and I’m proud to have helped Germany to win those two gold medals in the trap discipline", declared the German shooter after his victory.

In the trap men team competition, China (Xu, Zhang & Tian) won the gold medal with a total score of 353 ahead of the host country Qatar (Al-Rumaihi, Al-Humaidi & Khejaim - 352) who grabbed its first medal at the 49th CISM World Military Shooting Championship. Italy (Croce, Chianese & Rossi) took the bronze medal but also lost their CISM World Record previously set by Resca, Roddi and Croce in 2015 (338) in favor of the Chinese team (353). Before the new record was set by China yesterday, 5 others teams also broke the record: Qatar (352), Italy (351), Germany (348) as well as Korea and Spain (344).

Germany won another gold medal thanks to Skeries, Vennenkamp and Hornung in the CISM 25m Pistol Women Team event with a total score 1732-61x. Despite their brilliant result, Thailand (Yangpaiboon, Prucksakorn & Sowsa-Nga) must settle for the second place as they scored less center than Thailand (1732-53x). China (Zhang, Yan & Yao) finished on the third step of the podium with 1724-53x.

In the 50m Rifle 60 Prone Women, Majchacheep (THA) won Thailand’s first gold medal in this WMC with the same score as the German runner-up Rachl (624,8). Majchacheep topped the podium because she performed a better 6th series than Rachl. The bronze medal was awarded to another German shooter, Jolyn Beer (623,8).

In the last two team competitions of the day, Norway (Brekne, Wear & Lund – 1745-62x) and China (Jin, Gao & Xie – 1730-62x) respectively became World Champion in the 300m Standard Rifle 3x20m Team event and in the 25m Center Fire Pistol Men.

And more incredible, we could note the presence of Olegario Vázquez Raña, the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) President, Carlos Padilla Becerra, President of the Mexican Olympic Committee and Horst G. Schreiber, the ISSF Secretary-General, who were carefully observing the competitions at the shooting range yesterday and also met the CISM PCSC, Colonel Bruno Wolfensberger. "I really enjoyed the competitions. I’m really impressed by the professionalism and performances of the CISM athletes. Moreover, I would like to congratulate the organizers because I’ve been impressed by the quality of this World Military Shooting Championship", declared Olegario Vázquez Raña. For the first in the CISM History, the ISSF President and the ISSF Secretary General met the CISM PCSC in the framework of a CISM Championship.
